My son loves riding mac ride wish I bought it sooner. Well worth the money quality item.
I used to be very active on my MTB until my son was born, towing him in his chariot just wasn't the same so when he got big enough to be able to go on the Mac Ride the purchase was made.
Fitment was shockingly easy, just make sure to read the headset spacer requirements and not just look at the pictures like I did, thankfully I had the perfect amount of room for it to fit. I fitted this to my Giant Reign and the spare headset clamp to my partners Giant Trance, the seat post end is fitted to RockShox Reverbs on both bikes and does not interfere with the function at all, he has no issues with the seating position on either bikes.
The Mac Ride seems expensive until it's bolted to the bike then you understand why when you feel how solid and well thought out the product is, I totally recommend the product to anyone I meet and urge anyone on the fence to just do it, nothing on this planet can give you the time back your missing when it could be spent with you both attacking you fav trail with your little one shouting faster, more bumps, bump bumps.
The only downside to this is a serious shortage on gloves that fit a toddler, come on Mac Ride, sort it out :D
Seriously happy customer.
Straight out of the bag it worked perfectly, I was a bit apprehensive as my boy doesn't like change and I thought he'd be anti being towed but he loved it and the whole thing worked brilliantly. Couldn't recommend enough!! Added is the benefit of using it for skiing [with a harness] which I had never considered but as soon as we're allowed back on the slopes I can see this will be used a lot here too!!
Since my daughter has been 9 months I’ve been out on my bike with her, with a Thule front mount seat, but the limit was 15kg and she exceeded that during the Covid lockdown. I was so disappointed as it has provided us with such special daddy & daughter times. A quick search on the internet I found the ‘Bike Dads’ website and they really rated Mac-Ride, but they were only ever on mountain bikes and I’ve only got a gravel bike. I contacted Mac-Ride and they thought it’d be OK but I’d have to switch the drop bars. I ummed and arhhed for bit and then thought sod it I’ll try it and see if it works... IT’S BRILLIANT!!! My daughter and I are back out, on not only roads which we were previously limited to with the old seat, but now bridle ways, gravel tracks, water splashes everything. The Thule was perfect when she was little and unstable but the Mac-Ride is just perfect now we’re both capable of holding our selves better, a real step up in biking ability. The quality is fabulous and sturdy and I have no concerns on putting her on it on rougher terrain. AND I’m pleased to say there’s no issue with drop bars. We are just out and free again together. Thank you for such a great product, I was quite emotional after our first ride, I hadn’t realised how much I’d missed riding with my daughter. I’d recommend Mac-Ride to everyone. Top Product 👌
An excellent product. My 2 year old absolutely loves being on the bike with me, and it's great fun for both of us. Quick and easy to install, sturdy, safe and comfortable for the little one. A truly brilliant design and product, as well as a friendly company to deal with. 10/10
There weren’t many front seats on the market that would fit my bike and I’d had Mac Ride recommenced to me. It’s more expensive than some other options but you get top quality for the price. Really well made and thought out. My boy loves it and was so excited on our first ride. Highly recommend.
I bought after reading the review on imbikemag.com and I love it.
I use it daily on my Dutch commuter to drop my youngest (3.5 years old) off at nursery. He was previously on a rear set and there wasn't much craic. Now he's up front chatting away and navigating our way through Newcastle. It's made the whole journey a joy. There was initially a little anxiety about having him not strapped in, but that faded after the first ride. He often stands up on the stirrups and I have to watch out that he doesn't catch my chin with his helmet on the way up. Also my over 70 year old dad took him out for a ride with it on his eMTB on some bridleways in the lakes and they had a blast.
It's not cheap, but the build quality justifies the price and it's really easy to fit. While I can only speak of my experience, but my commuter bike (with a single leg stand) is so much more stable when I put my kid on the bike than when he was on the rear seat.
It's a great product and I would recommend to all looking for a more social way to commute with their child.
My son is 3y and I still need a seat from time to time. I really wish I had found this one years ago. He fits nicely and comfortably on the crossbar despite his age and despite the fact that I am small. The seat is loads quicker to fit and remove than the Wee-ride we had before. Very well designed and very easy to use. Is compatible with dropper posts too. The only downside is that it is awkward when my son falls to sleep because his torso isn't strapped in.
The is easily the best child seat I have bought.
Fantastically simple yet perfect for the job. I was looking in to a Macride to fit a plethora of bikes that I own, one which is an ageing Dawes with an older style stem. I was delighted to find Macride provide this adapter and it was simple to install and use.
Great bit of kit. Had my 19 month old on it. He’s only been walking about 2 months but got it straight away and within 30 mins was pointing where he wanted to go. Well built and very easy to take on and off. Would recommend.
Being the proud parents of 3 boys it was obvious they were going to follow in dad's footsteps and be shredding the trials as soon as they were able. We have tried bike trailers which are great for filling full of stuff on a long day out, but can be problematic for gates, narrow single-track ect. The Macride seat is a work of genius and our latest edition to the family absolutely loves it, the only downside for me is I wish I had it 11 years ago. 11/10 Macride
Brilliant, better than expected. My little boy will happily ride with me for a few hours. Thanks
Easy to fit, works like a charm on the child, who can now see forwards
Purchased this on recommendation of Juliet Elliot, after seeing it on her tube channel, my son loves it, and so easy to install, great product and well worth the money
Award Winning Design
The winner of numerous awards, we are proud of Mac Ride's strong and sleek design. Mac Ride does not use a cumbersome moulded seat, shoulder straps, or harnesses because a child strapped to a moulded seat absorbs the shakes and rattles of a moving bike.
With Mac Ride, your child can stand up on the stirrups, sharing the handlebars with you to help guide toward the right path. Your child can communicate with you about the trail features ahead, and to absorb the bumps in the path by bending legs and arms, just as you do. Totally unique bonding time, adventure, and fun.
